An early English gold-plated and snakeskin pair cased verge pocket watch, circa 1720. Verge movement, cock decorated with a grotesque face and an angel’s face, very fine Egyptian pillars with silver ornaments. Champlevé dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, the centre decorated. The outer case is covered with snakeskin, and the plain silver inner case is formerly gold plated, with the maker’s mark ID with a crown. Dial signed, movement signed and numbered.
