An early pocket watch with self strike made by Robert Newman in London, England, circa 1720. The numbered open faced and pierced case of this watch was crafted from gilt. The numbered champlevé dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minutes, a decoratively engraved center and iron poker & beetle hands. The numbered movement has a verge escapement, a magnificently decorated barrel, Egyptian pillars and an hour self strike.
The dial, cuvette and movement have matching numbers, the dial is marked RN, the cuvette and movement are signed.
