A German Marine deck ankerchronometer, circa 1940. Original mahogany box, original key, gimbal suspension, external time setting device, Lange & Söhne chronometer movement with lever escapement, Griesbach chronometer balance with four weights and two screws. Silvered dial with 35 hour power reserve indicator and gold hands. Comes with extract from the archives and test certificates .

A. Lange & Söhne Marine chronometers with lever escapement are extremely rare and popular collector’s pieces. This chronometer comes with an extract from the archives and was sold on 14.3.1940 to the naval shipyard in Kiel. The chronometer comes with interesting accompanying documents and certificates regarding the daily time error from the 50s and 60s.
