A Swiss black coated steel open faced split seconds chronograph precision timekeeper made for the XVII Olympic Games in Rome, circa 1960. Precision movement with a fine adjusting device. The blackened silver dial with painted grey Arabic hours, outer minute divisions, an outermost superimposed white chapter ring with markers indicating the 1/10ths of a second and Arabic numerals for the 60 seconds, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, a 30 minute register at 12, partially whitened steel baton hands, orange and red split seconds chronograph hands. A plain case, the dust cover inscribed F. Delande. Case numbered, dial signed, movement signed and numbered. Comes with the original presentation box and strap.
