An important, early English silver pair cased verge pendant watch with calendar, circa 1670. Very early verge movement, gut string, very early and rare pierced pillars, pierced verge wheel, very early two-edged balance without hairspring, foliot, extremely rare moving calendar on a rotating blued steel ring. Dial with heart-shaped silver cartouches and Roman hours, peripheral date display with Arabic numerals and a single hand. The outer case lacquered and decorated with nails, plain inner case, master’s mark TF. Movement signed.
