A magnificent gold and enamel watch with original box and gold key, made by J. Manigier in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1820. The open faced case of this watch is crafted from 18 Carat gold and is numbered and very complex and splendidly enamelled. The unusual guilloché dial without numerals has an original hour hand and a supplemented minute hand. The movement has a flat cylinder escapement.
Box and movement are signed.

The watch is in the original sales box of the court watchmaker Lennartz-Michels Aachen. This includes the golden key with agate trimmings. What is special is that the elaborate enamel work is still so well preserved.
