Waltham
The Waltham Watch Company, founded in 1850 by Aaron Dennison, David Davis and Edward Howard, revolutionised watchmaking by pioneering the American System of Manufacturing with its use of interchangeable parts. After moving to Waltham, Massachusetts, in 1854, the company grew to become one of the world’s largest producers of watches and precision instruments, with its historic facilities operating until the 1950’s.
The original company ceased operations in 1957.

The Waltham Watch Co. established a Swiss subsidiary in 1954, Waltham International SA, which continued to produce watches in Switzerland after the original American company became defunct in 1957. This Swiss operation, now a separate entity, retains the rights to the Waltham brand name outside of North America.
