Gold quarter repeating chronograph
–
A large Swiss 14 carat gold hunting cased quarter repeating pocket watch with chronograph, calendar and moon phases made in the early 20th century. The watch features a mechanical movement with crown winding, an anker escapement, a spiral balance and an advance/delay adjustment, striking the quarter hours with two hammers on a gong. Its white enamel dial displays Roman hours, outer minute divisions, an outermost fifth of a second track calibrated from 0-300, a central blued hand for the chronograph and gold Louis XV hands, further subsidiary seconds with concentric phases of the moon at 6 o’clock, the months of the year at 12, the date at 3 and the weekdays at 9. The round, hinged case has an engine turned back featuring a central, decoratively engraved and monogrammed cartouche. The gold cuvette is engraved with the technical details and numbered.
