A very fine and thin Swiss 18 carat white gold and enamel keyless lever Art Deco dress watch made for Chas. A. Sargeant, circa 1928. Retailed by The Frank Herschede Co, Cincinnati, Ohio. Rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with 8 adjustments, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Satine silver dial with applied gold Arabic numerals, outer minute dot divisions, subsidiary guilloché seconds dial and original white gold Breguet hands. Bezel and bow with black geometrical art deco enamel decoration, band with geometrical repeated pattern in high relief, the case back with black enamel cartouche and the name Chas. A. Sargeant. Dial, case and movement signed, movement engraved with retailer’s name, case and movement numbered.
