Gilt brass and silver pre balance spring verge watch

A fine and rare French gilt brass and silver pre balance spring single-handed oval pendant watch, circa 1610. Gilt brass oval movement, turned vase shaped pillars, fusee with gut line, short four-wheel train with six-leaf pinions, verge escapement, foliot and cock missing, ratchet wheel and click mainspring set up. Oval dial, sprung latches, integral chapter ring with Roman hour numerals with inner dots, fleur-de-lys half-hour divisions, the centre engraved with scrolling flowering foliage, outer border engraved with foliage, rabbits, a winged term and a winged angel mask, original steel fleur-de- lys hand. Oval case, the band engraved with inhabited scrolling foliage, lower flower finial, tulip pendant with loose ring, hinged silver covers on both sides, the front cover engraved with initials RM. Movement signed.
