Silver open faced cylinder with centre seconds by Patek Philippe

A fine and very rare Swiss silver open faced key-wind independent centre seconds cylinder pocket watch. Made for Tiffany & Co, New York in 1853 and sold on August 10th, 1853. Gilt brass movement, double barrel for the going and independent seconds, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, blued steel balance spring with temperature compensation curve, index regulator. Signed and numbered cuvette with outer guilloché, reverse engraved in worn script Thomas Porter (or similar). White enamel dial with Roman numerals secured by two blued steel screws, outer minutes and original blued steel Breguet hands. Polished case, gold hinges, switch to start/stop seconds in the band. Cuvette signed by the manufacturer and retailer. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives.
