A very fine, extremely rare Swiss 18 carat gold double sided keyless astronomical astrolabe pocket watch with mean and sidereal time, moon phases and separate plate on the back with gold alidade made especially for Monsieur Wickl in 1983. Retailed by Gubelin. Rhodium plated movement, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, mono-metallic balance with self compensating Breguet balance spring, micrometric regulator. Dial with silver ring, champlevé Roman numerals, annular revolving gold ring in the centre engraved with annual calendar and rotating with sidereal speed showing sidereal time, gold Zodiac ring, centre engraved with different latitudes, gold rete on the back with gold rule and original blued steel hands, the hour hand fitted with a gold sun at the end, the minute with gold disc in the centre symbolizing the Earth. Brushed and polished case. Dial, case and movement ring signed, movement signed by IWC, case and movement numbered.
