A fine German two day marine chronometer with 56 hour winding indicator in mahogany box, circa 1940. Nickeled full plate movement, turned pillars secured by screws, fusee and chain, Earnshaw spring detent escapement, two armed bimetallic compensation balance with cylindrical weights and two meantime adjusting nuts, helical balance spring with outer terminal curves. White enamel dial with Arabic hour numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock with the CW, Chronometerwerke, logo, up and down indicator at 12 o’clock and partially replaced brass spade hands. Two tier case, mahogany handles, front brass plate, brass bowl and gimbaled suspension. Dial and box signed.
