A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating musical cylinder pocket watch, circa 1820. Gilt-brass two-train movement with foliate engraved standing barrel for the going train, Ø 52 mm, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, flat balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. A sur plateau musical movement, 24 tuned, steel vibrating blades acting on both sides of the pinned disc, music playing on the hour or at will. A hinged gilt-brass cuvette with apertures for the winding. White enamel dial with Arabic hours, an outer minute track and blued steel Breguet hands. Polished case with reeded borders, a reeded band, a bolt at 11 o’clock to lock the repeat and at 2 o’clock for the music. Case and movement numbered.
