Gold skeletonized automaton with three actions

A very fine and very rare Swiss 18 carat gold open faced carillon quarter repeating verge pocket watch with three varicoloured gold automaton Jacquemarts, circa 1820. Gilt-brass full plate movement, fusee with chain, a verge escapement, plain three-arm gilt balance, engraved continental cock and a polished under dial repeating work striking with three hammers on three blued steel gongs activated by depressing the pendant. A hinged and sprung gilt cuvette fitted to the movement ring. An annular white enamel chapter ring with Arabic hours, outer minute track, a skeletonized centre with varicoloured gold cherub Jacquenarts in classical costume with a cherub Jacquemart seated below amongst foliage appearing to strike bells when the repeating is activated, blued steel Breguet hands. The Empire case with an engine-turned back, a vacant oval cartouche, polished bezel and reeded band, a bolt at 11 o’clock to lock the repeating.
