Rock crystal octagonal watch by Louis Ellion
–
A decorative and historically important Austrian rock crystal octagonal-shaped cylinder pocket watch, circa 1870. The movement of this timepiece is a frosted gilt full plate type, equipped with a chain and fusee mechanism, a cylinder escapement, and a three-armed brass balance. The dial features a beautiful polychrome cloisonné enamel design, with cartouches displaying Roman hours and elegant Louis XV hands. The case is adorned with an enamelled silver frame embellished with paste set accents, faceted rock crystal, and a trefoil-shaped bow. The movement bears the signature of the maker.
