An early English silver pair cased key wind verge pocket watch with date, circa 1715. Engraved gilt full plate movement, plain three armed balance, with verge escapement, pierced and engraved winged balance cock, silver regulation, Egyptian pillars. Silver champlevé dial with black infilled Roman numerals, black infilled outer minute track with Arabic numeral five minute markers, gilt rim, aperture at 6 for date, blued steel beetle and poker hands. Polished inner with indistinct makers mark, possibly ‘IR’, square hinged outer with 5 knuckles, numbered 4144 and ‘WS’ under a crown.
