A rare and early Swiss silver pair cased astronomical verge watch, circa 1670. Gilt finished verge movement, chain fusée, pierced and engraved balance cock, pierced Egyptian pillars. Gilt dial, three subsidiary dials indicating phases of the moon and lunar calendar, date and hours, three fan form apertures for the signs of the zodiac, times of the day, days of the month and corresponding season. Plain inner case, outer case engraved with foliate motif and a central village scene. Movement signed, case stamped ‘IC’.
