A very fine, single-handed, Swiss verge pocket watch “Oignon” with an unique concealed sado-erotic scene and alarm, circa 1670.
Silver case with inner part pierced and engraved, the back cover with a polychrome enamel plaque, depicting a noble lady, the inner with a gilt Champlevé medallion depicting a sado-erotic scene with a satyr who whips a naked woman tied to a tree, rear bell and large lateral hinge. Silver Champlevé style dial with radial Roman hours, central alarm disc with Arabic numerals and blued steel hand. Full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, chain/fusee, Egyptian movement pillars, 1 hammer, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued balance spring, lavishly florally engraved balance bridge with two birds and engraved regulating scale.

To the best of our knowledge this is the only known pocket watch showing a sado-erotic scene. Fracois Jaquier Jaquier was a watchmaker in Geneva, originally from France. In 1660 he fled during the persecution of the Huguenots.
