Gold half hunting cased chronometer by Charles Frodsham

A rare English 18 carat gold half hunting cased pocket chronometer with up-and-down indicator, circa 1887. Gilt finished 3/4 plate Victor Kullberg movement, spring detent escapement, reverse fusee, some jewels carried in screwed gold chatons, diamond endstone, freesprung bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel helical hairspring. Gold cuvette inscribed J. Pierpont Morgan Jr. 1891. Off-white enamel dial, Roman numerals, two subsidiary dials indicating constant seconds and up-and-down. Polished case, five bar knuckle, turning pendant, the front lid with aperture surrounded by enameled chapter ring with blue Roman numerals. Dial and movement signed, case stamped with maker’s mark ‘HMF’ for Harrison Mills Frodsham and London date letter for 1887, the pendant stamped ‘AS’ for Alfred Stram, the movement numbered under the dial and also stamped 16JP1 for the frame maker Preston.
