An unusual Swiss 18 carat rose gold open faced quarter repeating watch with four jaquemarts, circa 1820. Full plate gilt finished movement, pierced and engraved balance cock, gold cuvette, repeating on two hammers. Dial with Breguet numerals on outer white enamel chapter ring, blued steel serpentine hands, centred by an applied vari coloured gold neoclassical landscape and automaton scene depicting Pulcinella fighting Chronos appearing to the upper part in unison with the hour repeating and two cherubs below apparently striking the quarter hours in unison with the repeating. Engine turned case, repeating through the pendant, pending locking lever in the ribbed band.
