An exceptional Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and pearl set two train quarter repeating musical watch, circa 1820. Gilt finished cylinder movement, plain three armed brass balance, repeating on two hammers, musical pin barrel, ‘M/S’ for ‘Music/Silence’ lever underneath the dial. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Large case, split pearl set bezel, rim, pendant and bow, the reverse with brown and green enamel, polychrome champlevé floral decorated band, the reverse centred by a polychrome enamel scene in the manner of Richter depicting ‘The Reprimand’, quarter repeating through the pendant, music activated by a sliding lever in the band.
