Unusual open faced quarter repeating chronometer by Richard Ganthony

A fine, rare and unusual English 18 carat rose gold open faced carillon quarter repeating keywound pocket chronometer, circa 1814. Full plate gilt finished movement, chain fusée, Arnold type spring detent escapement, two arm bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel helical hairspring, freesprung regulator, carillon quarter repeating on three hammers on three gongs. Gold cuvette. Off-white enamel dial with Roman numerals, blued steel serpentine hands and subsidiary seconds. Large case, repeating through the pendant. Case stamped with casemaker’s intials WM and London date letter for 1814, dial signed, movement signed and numbered.
