Pocket watch with an early rack lever escapement
–
An unusual early rack lever watch with a pirouette 15 seconds scale, made by Meyer Isaac Tobias & Co in Liverpool, England, circa 1814. The case of this watch is crafted from 18 carat gold and the white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an unusual 15 seconds dial at 6 o’clock and gold hands. The movement is fitted with an extremely rare early rack lever escapement ‘pirouette’ with 15 seconds rotation, a diamond end stone and Liverpool windows.
The case and movement have matching numbers and the movement is signed.
