A fine English 18 carat gold hunting cased minute repeating keyless lever watch with helical hairspring, circa 1885. 3/4 Plate gilt finished English double roller lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, freesprung blued steel helical hairspring with diamond endstone, minute repeating on two hammers onto a gong, activated by a slide in the band. Gold cuvette. Cream enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer calibrated minutes division and sunken subsidiary seconds. Plain case, hinged back. Dial and movement signed, case stamped with casemaker’s mark HMF for Harrison Mill Frodsham and London date letter for 1885, bow stamped CH.
