An extremely fine German gilt brass mounted rock crystal watch case in the shape of a cross, circa 1620. A crucifix shaped gilt brass mounted rock crystal hinged at the top, small lower finial, short pendant, loose ring. Silver champlevé dial with radial Roman numerals and inner quarter hour divisions, centre engraved with a village scene, whole on gilt cross shaped plate with arms engraved, and blued steel tulip hand. Gilt brass, full plate movement, vase pillars, verge escapement, elongated cock asymmetrically pierced with floral engraving secured by a screw, incomplete stackfreed. Signed on the back plate N.S.
