A very fine Belgium 18K varicoloured gold quarter repeating pocket watch with à tact feature, circa 1770. A Louis XV case, the back decorated with a varicoloured gold scene of putto before a classical altar, swag border, outer pierced border with interlaced laurel and ribbon, and bezel decorated to match. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, large Arabic five-minute numerals, and rose-cut diamond-set elaborate hands. A matte gilt full plate movement, tapered cylindrical pillars, fuse and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental balance cock, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed.
