Silver watch specially made for the Zürich shooting festival

A Swiss silver and gilded silver keyless pocket watch, circa 1906. Special made for the Zürich cantonal shooting festival of Rüti. The back is chased with the portrait of a hunter with a majestic beard, holding his rifle, with the inscription on the left Rüti-1906, signed by Holy Frères. Inside engraved with Grand Prix Paris 1900. White enamel dial with suspended Arabic numerals. with subsidiary seconds at 6 and gold decorative hands.
A gilded brass movement, going barrel, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensated balance with gold poising screws and blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, index regulator. The dial, case and movement are signed.

Zürcher Kantonal Schützenfest, Rüti 1906: The Zürich cantonal shooting festival of Rüti (district of Hinwil, canton of Zürich) was held between June 24 and July 2, 1906. Omega–L. Louis Brandt & frère, Bienne/Biel, is delivering 317 men’s pocket watches for this event, decorated by Holy frères, Saint-Imier. The movement of each of them is worth 35 Swiss francs and is accompanied by a certificate.

On this occasion, independently of this watch, the house of Holy Frères from Saint-Imier struck a silver medal (Ø 23 mm). On the obverse, the bust in profile to the right of a young peasant girl, the hair decorated with laurel leaves and the chest with oak leaves; inscribed Rüti 1906. On the reverse, a view of the village of Rüti; inscribed Zürcher Kantonal Schützenfest with the coats of arms of Rüti and Zürich.
