A five-minute repeating hunting cased pocket watch with patented Jürgensen bow setting, circa 1866.
Engine-turned 18-carat rose gold, tiered, à goutte case with a slide for repeating mechanism and glazed movement. A signed enamel dial with radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, and blued Breguet hands. And a signed, ground, nickel-plated, bridge movement with two hammers / two gongs, screwed gold chaton, and gold screw compensation balance.

Jules Jürgensen 1808-1877 was born in Le Locle 1808 as son of the watchmaker Urban Jürgensen (grandson of Jacques-Frédéric Houriet). In Copenhagen Jürgensen received his training in the watchmaking business of his family and in addition studied mathematics, astronomy and foreign languages. Shortly after the death of Jacques-Frédéric Houriet, Jürgensen went to Switzerland and opened a watch manufactory in Le Locle. His precision watches gained worldwide recognition.
