An important, early Danish pair-cased pocket watch with centre seconds, circa 1788.
Two case: outer case silver/tortoiseshell; inner case silver, polished, with fluted rims and five piece lateral hinge. Signed enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, Arabic minutes, centre seconds and pierced filigree gold hands. Full plate movement, frosted, gilt, signed, keywind, fine florally engraved, with chain/fusee, conical pillars, cylinder escapement with steel cylinder wheel, three-arm brass balance with balance stop device and pierced balance bridge.

Jörgen Jürgensen (1748-1811) He was the father of the renowned watchmaker Urban Juergensen; he started a watchmaking factory in Kopenhagen in 1775 and went into partnership with Isaac Larpent in 1780. From then on the company operated under the name “Larpent & Juergensen” in Roskilde.
