A fine Dutch pair cased verge pocket watch with date indicator, circa 1700.
Two cases; outer case – silver, polished, with large lateral hinge and inner case – silver, polished. Signed silver dial, Champlevé, with inlaid radial Roman hours, date window and blued steel “Poker & Beetle” hands. Fine full plate movement, keywind, firegilt and signed, with applied engraved ornaments, chain/fusee, trapezoid movement pillars, three-arm brass balance and a finely florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.

Pieter Klock (1665 – 1754)
Pieter Klock was an famous clockmaker and arts dealer who lived and worked in Amsterdam. Klock created a number of fine clocks with sailing vessel automatons and obviously had an excellent reputation, because in 1716 the city fathers of Amsterdam asked him to make a list of the best watchmakers in the city.
