A fine and rare Dutch silver pair cased repoussé verge watch, circa 1700. Gilt full plate verge movement, pierced and engraved balance cock, fusee and chain, gilt regulation dial. Silver dial with engraved scrolled foliage, aperture for night and day hours on a blued steel disc with sun and moon display, Roman numerals on a retrograde hour sector to indicate the diurnal and nocturnal hours by means of the sun and the moon, outer minute ring with Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds. Decorated silver outer case depicting biblical scene the flight into Egypt, bezel set with floral scroll chased with a repoussé italic pattern, plain inner case. Dial signed, movement signed.
