A rare Dutch double cased verge pocket watch “Oignon” with date, circa 1715, case is silver and smooth. Dial is silver, Champlevé, florally ornamented centre, radial Roman hours, date window, blued “Poker & Beetle” hands. Full plate movement, applied floral decorations, frosted, gilt, signed, chain/fusee, blued screws, pierced and engraved movement pillars, pierced and engraved balance cock with galant scene and motto “Hy Wierd Gewis Voor Gek Genomen Was Hy Niet Van Parys Geko Myn”, mock pendulum aperture.
