Single-handed verge pocket watch

A French silver and gilded brass octagonal verge pocket watch, circa 1615. The original movement was altered to prolong its useful life, verge escapement, pierced cock and pillars, gut-driven fusee. The case is engraved with an erotic scene. Silver engraved dial, gilt-brass chapter ring with Roman hours and a single hand.
