Oval one-handed verge watch by Nicolas Forfaict
–
A French gilt metal, silver, and fine engraved single-handed oval pendant watch, circa 1615. This watch features a full plate movement with a verge escapement. The gilt metal case and dial are engraved with designs of foliage and ornamentation, and the case band is pierced. The single hand on the dial indicates both the hours and half-hours, which are marked on the silver chapter ring. Nicolas Forfaict, a watchmaker from Paris who worked between 1580 and 1615, signed his name on the movement.
