An early, extraordinairy French gilded brass repoussé oignon pocket watch, circa 1700. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, fine iron hands. Open faced case, mythological scene after Ovid ‘Actaion son of Apollo surprises Diana while bathing’ to the back. Gilded full plate movement with angular columns, lavishly silver decorated, verge escapement, sawn neck regulator, engraved balance cock.
