Sister watch to the well-known Morisset & Lukins London
–
An important and probably unique enamelled pocket watch for the Chinese market, sister watch to the well-known, made by Morisset & Lukins in London, England, circa 1792. The 18 Carat gold open faced case is set with two rows of the finest oriental pearls on both sides and has the very finest enamel paillon work on blue guilloché enamel on the back, is numbered 2483 and bears the maker’s mark GM and London Hallmarks 1792. The absolutely rare enamelled dial has an outer ring with Arabic numerals for the minutes and seconds, an inner ring with Roman numerals for the hours and ruby trimmings and red gold hands. The extremely rare calibre movement with duplex escapement and centre seconds is signed and numbered and has a diamond end stone. A presumably original “Male” key for the special winding square belongs to the watch.
