Daniel de S(ain)t. Leu was active from 1753 to 1797. He originally came from Geneva.  De St. Leu worked in Geneva and London and was appointed Royal Watchmaker in 1765. He was best known for his finely enamelled and multicoloured gold watches set with diamonds and other precious stones, as well as for his repeating watches made for the Turkish and Islamic markets. He also made a magnificent clock in a silver holder for the Spanish court. Although De St. Leu only operated until about 1797, the company continued to produce watches under his name for about 15 more years.
