An English fine gold and enamel triple cased verge watch made for the Turkish market, circa 1788, gilt full plate verge movement signed Markwick Markham Borrell London, pierced and engraved balance cock, chain and fusee, silver dial for regulator.
white enamel dial, Turkish numerals, gold beetle and poker hands, plain polished inner case, case maker’s IK, diamond set pendant with banded white and red enamel decoration, central case with polychrome enamel scene of a bouquet of flowers, framed by red translucent enamel and outer turquoise heightened with gold, red and blue enamel, similarly decorated bezel, diamond thumb set piece, the outer case with similar floral pattern against a pink enamel ground, dial and movement signed, case hallmarked London 1788.
