A decorative English gilt-brass and enamel pair-cased astronomical centre seconds verge coach clock with regulator dial made for the Oriental market, circa 1790.
An engraved gilt-brass outer case with en grisaille enamel portrait on the back, hinged, the bezel foliates engraved and set with alternating white and ruby paste stones, polished gilt-brass inner case. Signed white enamel dial, outer Arabic five-minute track, four subsidiary dials with at 3 o’clock Roman hour indication, symmetrically to the left the constant seconds, at 12 the date and at 6 o’clock the days of the week, center seconds, gilded hands. Signed and numbered gilt-brass full plate movement, column pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel three arm balance, single footed gilded cock pierced and balance stop device.
