Gilt-brass coach watch with centre seconds

A fine and rare, small English gilt-brass and enamel pair cased centre seconds coach and table watch with stop feature made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. The Three Muses by William Brown. The outer case: chased bezels with palm leaf decoration against a matted ground, the back enamel panel painted with an allegory featuring Clio muse of History, Urania muse of Astronomy and Euterpe the muse of music in a landscape.

Plain inner case. Gilt-brass dust cap. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions, Arabic five-minute numerals, pierced gilt-brass hands. Hinged gilt-brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved gilt-brass English cock with diamond endstone, silver regulation dial, stop lever in the bezel. Movement and dust cap signed.
