Gold carillon watch with grande & petite sonnerie

A very fine and exceptionally rare Swiss 18K gold, enamel and pearl-set hunting cased two-train grande and petite sonnerie keyless lever pocket watch carillon and trip minute-repeat made for the Chinese market, circa 1900. Tiger Hunt by J. Ullmann & Co, Hong Kong, Shanghai & Tientsin.

The case band champlevé enamelled, springloaded front cover with the polychrome enamel portrait of a young lady within a pearl-set frame on a translucent blue enamel ground with gold paillon, the back cover with a painted on enamel scene of a horseman hunting a tiger also within a pearl-set frame on a translucent blue ground with gilt paillons, hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman hours, outer minute track and Arabic five minutes, subsidiary seconds, gilt paste-set hands. A frosted gilt 1/2 plate movement, 28 jewels, two barrels with tandem winding, lateral lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring, repeating with three hammers on three gongs through push-piece in the band. Dial and cuvette signed.
