An English very fine gold enamel gentleman’s pocket watch with a matching half pearl-set gold enamel chatelaine, for the Chinese market, circa 1790. 18 carat gold case; the reverse is centred by a polychrome painted enamel portrait of a lady on a translucent blue enamel background. Gold dial with radial Roman numerals and blued spade hands. Signed full plate movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, with chain/fusee, moulded pillars, cylinder escapement, three-arm steel ring balance and chatoned diamond endstone on balance.
