Gold open faced lever watch

A fine Irish 18 carat gold open faced pocket watch with power reserve display, circa 1868. ¾ plate English lever escapement with double-cut gold screw bimetallic balance and diamond endstone, free-sprung blued balance spring signed John Lowry Belfast.
White enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer minute track, up & down display for 30h power reserve, subsidiary seconds at 6 and original gold hands.
Gold polished case and band,  case maker’s punch mark AS (Alfred Stram).

John Lowry was born in Drumbo on 11 August 1811 and was a fairly well-known chronometer and watchmaker in Belfast’s High Street between 1849 and 1880. He received his training as a watchmaker in London.
