Gold open faced verge pocket watch by George Prior

A fine miniature gold enamel triple-cased verge pocket watch for the Ottoman market, circa 1813. The watch has three cases. The first case is made of 18-carat gold and features a scalloped edge with polychrome flower decoration in Champlevé enamel. It is partly translucent and opaque enamelled, with a glazed back cover and a large lateral hinge. The second case is also made of 18-carat gold and has a scalloped edge with polychrome flower decoration in Champlevé enamel. It is partly translucent and opaque enamelled and features a polychrome painted enamel plaque in the centre with an alpine river landscape, a mill in the foreground, and a large lateral hinge. The third case is made of 18-carat gold and has an inner case with case maker punch mark AN. The enamel dial has radial Ottoman numerals and blued Breguet hands. The full plate movement is fire gilt, signed, and has a chain/fusee, Egyptian movement pillars, a three-arm steel balance, and an engraved pierced balance cock with vase decoration.
