A rare English 18K gold and enamel open faced cylinder pocket watch, circa 1772.
Engraved à goutte case, large lateral hinge, the back decorated with two translucent cobalt blue enamelled palm leaves and a festoon on an engine-turned ground, white and blue champlevé enamel border, the centre with an en grisaille enamel plaque depicting Hercules and Omphale on the back of a lion, the en grisaille enamel painting dedicated to Toussaint, case maker’s mark TL, numbered and signed movement protection cap. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals and gold Louis XV hands. Re-gilded full plate movement, key wound, applied engraved and pierced ornaments, chain and fusee, brass cylinder wheel, solid movement pillars, three-arm steel balance, very finely engraved and pierced balance cock, large chatoned diamond endstone.
