This watch is a rarity from a technical point of view. Watches with pull&pump winding were only made /only over/ for a very short period of time. The present construction was an invention of Viner based on the further development of Berolla’s winding system. Charles Edward Viner (1788-1875) was one of the most famous London watchmakers and inventors of his time, trained by Thomas Savage, he made the finest pocket watches and carriage clocks. According to our knowledge, this is the only piece noted combining this rare winding mechanism with a duplex escapement and an additional seconds register.
