Gold half hunting cased chronometer by John Walker

An English gold half hunting cased minute repeating keyless pocket chronometer with calendar, retrograde date, and start/stop seconds, circa 1866. This watch features a gilded 3/4 plate, detent escapement, free-sprung bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel helical spring, and diamond endstone, and is signed and numbered; John Walker at 230 Regent Street, London. It has a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, an outer minute ring, subsidiary dials for stop/start seconds, day and month, a sector for retrograde date, and blued steel hands. The 18 carat gold case has engine turned covers, with the front featuring a glazed aperture surrounded by blue enamel Roman numerals. It is hallmarked for London 1866 with the case maker’s mark F.B. in an oval cartouche for Frank Bennett.

The movement is functioning properly, with the day and date advancing correctly when the hands are moved. However, the pusher under the bezel for changing the day and date is not operational. The dial is in good condition, while the case shows scuff marks throughout and some wear to the engine-turning.
