A very fine and rare English 18 carat pocket chronometer with Arnold spring detent escapement. A solid, polished plain case with London Hallmarks for 1802. A white enamel dial, Arabic hour numerals, outer minutes, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and Breguet steel hands. A gilt brass, full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, 15 jewels in screwed settings, Arnold spring detent escapement, Z-type Arnold balance with diamond endstone, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves. Dial and movement are signed.
