A heavy and extremely rare English silver lever deck watch with 34 minute carrousel made for the British Royal Navy, circa 1909.
Frosted gilt 3/4 plate movement, ébauche: Bahne Bonniksen, Broad Arrow, screwed chatons, Bonniksen carrousel revolving in 34 minutes, English lever escapement, gold screwed compensation balance, freesprung blued balance spring, chatoned diamond endstone on balance.
White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, centre seconds, Broad Arrow and blued spade hands. Polished case, gold crown, pusher, hinge and shackle.   Dial and movement signed and numbered.

Carrousel watches are a design by the Danish watchmaker Bahne Bonniksen, who registered the patent in 1892 in England. His intention was to create a compromise between the expensive tourbillon and a normal chronometer, he actually achieved better results with his carousel than some of the tourbillons.
